Office Appropriate Looks

What to Wear Nine to Five.
Sometimes it is difficult to choose what to wear every single day of the work week. Especially when we are transitioning into a new season, this can be a bit daunting. That is why I've outlined a few work ready items for each day of the week that can work right now while the weather is not too chilly yet not  summer weather either.

Monday Morning Meeting:
The Patterned Pant

images via Carolines Mode
This is a super trendy look right now that can definitely work for the office--if paired with the right accessories. Because the pants are a bit 'out there', opt for a neutral blazer or a two-toned one like Olivia Palermo above. Make sure the pant is cropped and hits just above your ankle bone.
Super steal can be found here.

Tuesday Meeting With Clients:
Overcoat with Flare

image via InStyle
Need to run out of the office to grab coffee or lunch with a client? Well this amazing number is perfect to throw on over your work blouse and into the cold weather. The length of it makes it super edgy and classy at the same time. It can be paired with tailored slacks or a pencil skirt with tights and heels. Because of the neutral colors, pair it with bright accessories like a red bag or plum colored pumps.

Wednesday Presentation to the Boss:
Classic Suit

This classic Banana Republic suit is retro with a twist. I would pair it with a leather burgundy skinny belt with some colored heels. Just because the suit may be classic and innocent, doesn't mean your accessories have to be.

Thursday Business Trip:
Taking the Right Accessories

These accessories are essential when travelling on business trips or to various work related destinations. Flats are important to store in your bag if there's a lot of walking to do (ie running to catch your flight). Also, this trendy wallet crafted by Tiffany&Co is the perfect accessory for storing your essentials.

Casual Friday:
Casual, but not too casual

Allowed to wear jeans on Friday? Great, but make sure they are still work appropriate. Opt for a darker wash and pair them with a boyfriend blazer and a tucked in blouse. A good pair of work jeans are these MiH pair that can be found here.

Fall Picks

This coming Fall season, I am looking forward to updating my wardrobe. There's nothing more exciting than transitioning into the next season, switching the shorts for skinnies or vice versa. Here are a few looks that inspire me to wear once this beautiful summer weather comes to an end.

Fur scarves, layered jackets in similar color hues, oversized knits, tailored skinnies & slouchy boots.

Ankle booties with a small-ish heel so I'm able to walk miles in them.

Large, versatile and structured tote :: Simple & stackable gold jewelry.

Summer Living

image via Paterson Maker

This weekend was spent relaxing at my friend's lake cabin. It was so nice to get away for a couple of days and escape the craziness of the city. Seems nice when all is written on your to-do list is: sleep in, go paddle boarding, eat amazing meals & sun tan all day long. Tis the life.

Here is what I packed in my weekender:

2 bathing suits
Sun hat
Beach towel
Flip flops
Sun dress
Jean shorts
Tank top
Sun tan lotion
Magazine

When in doubt, keep it simple.

Happy Summer!

Trend Thursday

Denim + Whites.
With summer in full force now, there's no excuse for you not to pull out that white summer dress from the back of your closet. Pairing it with a denim vest or jacket keeps the look casual and cool. Brown and gold accessories pair nicely with denim as they are not too clunky and heavy looking.

TIP:
Wear strappy brown heels or ankle booties for the evening and brown gladiator sandals for the daytime.

Skirt & Tee
This look never ceases to impress me. It is such an easy outfit to master, if done right. Perfect for so many different occations...running errands, dinner date, or a night out on the town.

TIP:
Make sure the skirt is fitted while keeping the top nice and loose. Also, make sure the tee is long enough that it reaches your hips. Adding cool accessory colors ties the outfit together.

The Denim Shirt.
This is a classic and essential piece for summer as well as a good transition piece into Fall. Whether you style it tucked into jeans or worn over a lace dress, the verstitility of this shirt never seems to get old. A personal fave of mine is to wear it with leggings and a long tank with the denim shirt unbuttoned overtop with the sleeves rolled up.

TIP:
If pairing it with denim, make sure the denim colors don't clash. For example, choose a light colored denim shirt and pair it with darker colored denim bottoms.

Blazer + Boyfriend Jeans

image via Paterson Maker

Loving this look for so many reasons. There's nothing better than a crisp white blazer paired with relaxed boyfriend jeans. The mixture of polished with distressed says it all and is the perfect balance. This will definitely be my summer staple. Pair it with flats when running errands or heels when going our for lunch with friends.

TIP:
Make sure to pick a blazer that has a good fit. Look for ones that are fitted through the waist to accentuate your smallest part. When wearing looser bottoms, a fitted top is necessary.

My favorite boyfriend jeans can be found here & here and a solid white blazer here

The Long Blazer.
This should be a staple in every girl's closet. Blazers can be worn in the winter, fall, spring and summer. So versatile it's ridiculous. Whether that blazer be a boyfriend blazer, cropped or long like this one shown below, it's a necessary piece for your wardrobe collection.
The longness of this one can be paired with leggings, skinnies or wide leg and shorts. As for color, get a different color for each so you can wear it according to the season! For example, this pastel pink is awesome for spring & summer.

Relaxed Yet Sophisticated.

It is often difficult to dress comfortably yet still look put together at the same time. Olivia Palermo and model boyfriend Johannes Huebl seem to have mastered that look. I absolutely adore Palermo's style. Whether she's dressed to the nine's in a designer ball gown or in this cute little skirt and striped tee, she totally captures the essence of perfect style.
Huebl too has killer fashion sense. Chinos for sure should be a staple in every man's wardrobe. They can be worn with flip flops, coverse runners (as seen here) or a little more dressed up with leather loafers. Simply roll up the bottoms and you've got a relaxed & trendy look.
Voila!

Spring Cleaning

Cleaning Out The Closet.

Probably one of my least favorite things to do, but feels so rewarding once completed. I spent part of the day yesterday mastering my closet; throwing things away that I haven't worn nor touched in the past year, recycling pieces that no longer fit or have seen better days & organizing drawers and shoe racks. I can officially say my closet is clean and a bag full of old treasures was thrown out.

Here is a list of things I do when cleaning out my closet:

1.
Throw out/donate items which you have not worn in the past year
2.
Try on items to make sure they still fit and look good
3.
After revamping, make a list of needs vs. wants to add to your collection

Ahh...I can only dream that my closet will ever look this amazing...

Accessorize

A key element in dressing well is to finish up the look with unique accessories. This is the part where you can have a little fun experimenting or creating that wow factor to your outfit.

Layering up different sizes, colors & shapes to your bangles adds a cool look. Matching the hardware on the clutch to the gold in the bangles and ring ties the look all together (not to mention matching nail polish as well!)

These are great pieces for the summer. The look would have worked with just the bottom minty green bracelets, but once the upper bracelet was added, it made the accessories pop. Because the dress looks airy and delicate, make sure your accessories match that. For example, adding a gold cuff here would alter the look from being delicate to hardcore. Dainty jewels work best.

I love love love adding vintage inspired pieces into my existing collection. Mixing old with new is such a unique way to incorporate past trends with current ones. Again, a perfect opportunity to experiment!

Emerald green + gold = absolute elegance. Reminds me of royalty and upper class. If the green had been a shade lighter, it would have appeared less classy and more casual & carefree.

Menswear inspired accessories add a totally different look to one's style. They can be extremely easy to incorporate into your existing wardrobe as they usually are not exuberantly outrageous. Instead, the pink denim adds that touch which makes the subtle jewels balance the outfit perfectly.

Happy accessorizing!

Summer Whites

Neutrals.

This picture captures the pureness of summer whites. Adding different shades of neutrals instead of sticking to just plain white also makes the outfit look less boring & more put together. Love everything about this look: how the bag matches the nail polish, the subtle but cool wedges, the tie of the scarf and of course, that amazingly chic hat.
love. love. love.

Metallics.
An edgy way to update your look in a matter of seconds. By having a statement clutch like this one enhances the outfit by simply only using one accessory. Adding metallic cuffs polishes off the look and ties it all together.
BOOM.

Simple Is Better

Lately, I've been drawn to simplistic pieces and accessories. Especially now when the warmer weather is setting in, layering is not as needed. This look below is the perfect example of creating a simple outfit without overdoing anything. The pop of color in the bag adds just the right touch and keeps the look from being too boring.

Dressing For Your Body Type.

It can be tricky to find styles that fit well and work with your body frame. Just because a certain trend is in style, doesn't mean that you personally have to wear it. What's even more stylish is creating your own look based off of that trend to suit your own body type
The iconic fashion designer, Tory Burch, is the epitomy of knowing what suits her particular body frame. Since she is petite, working in vertical stripes and tall (not to mention statement) wedges into her wardrobe not only flatters her figure, but elogates it as well.
Love her.

Cat Eyes.
These are definitely on my wish list for this summer. Every time the sun comes out I remind myself that I need a pair of these sultry cat eye shaped shades. They have an Audrey Hepburn-esque/old Hollywood feel to them mixed with a modern edge.
Oooh la la...

Spring Pleats.
This Spring, focus on pleats. They add a bit of flare to your look and can be easily worn. As the directions say below, they can be worn casually or dressed up with some heels. Perfect transition piece as well. Definitely a must-have for your Spring attire :)

Happy Sunday!

Enjoy today like it's the last.
I always seem to blog on Sundays. It's something about this day that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Perhaps it's the glorious sunshine out and the fact that I got to enjoy it while going for a run this morning. Whatever it may be, make sure you spend today well.
Make it wonderful.
