Zipper It Up.
This trend has been current for the last year or so. I love that a tiny detail such as a couple inches of zipper can make an article of clothing appear unique and trendy. Whether zipped up or down, it changes the entire look yet still keeping the style fresh & fabulous.

Studded Flats.

I meant to post this yesterday but have been swamped with work and totally forgot-oops! Discovered these rad studded flats a few weeks ago when I was doing my daily blog browse. They are super unique and edgey and also easy to dress up or down an outfit. Love it when shoes are the main accessory which makes the outfit pop.

Festive Lighting.

As Christmas is fast approaching, it's time to start decorating and getting into the Christmas spirit! I've been wanting to decorate my place but feel like I have a tight budget to spend on frivolous purchases - until today when I spotted this picture. These simple Christmas lights hung on a bare wall adds complete holiday glamour on a low budget. Looks festive, modern and unique.
Absolutely Perfect.

Leather & Fur.

I've been eyeing this look for quite some time and wondering how I'm going to find the perfect two articles of clothing to rock this look. I love the contrast of feminine fur and hardcore, biker leather. It's also a nice alternative to wearing a regular winter coat. You still get the warmth of doubling up the layers while looking ultra chic at the same time. Can't pass this up.

Headware.
So, for this winter I have found my new fave accessory: Hats. I have never been a huge hat fan, but I always admire others who can pull off that look. I've decided this year that I'm going to muster up the courage and start wearing them. Great way to hide a bad hair day too!
There's a specific style that I'm loving...the shape is like the hats you wear to horse races, but definitely not that big. Take a look at the photos below to get a better idea of what I'm going on about...

Elegance.

So, I have now found my new favorite blog site which displays current trends of street style in the fashion-forward city of Stockholm. I love how the outfits are not "runway ready" but instead are put together by actual people and the looks can easily be incorporated into our own wardrobes. To check out more of their looks, click here.

This picture totally captures the essence of beauty and elegance. I am in love with the color of this cape and the femininity & simplicity that it portrays.

Blazer Coat
I am in love with this look. Such a great idea to have that same blazer-esque look, but made a little extra longer for those cold winter days. It is still super professional looking, yet not as simple as wearing an ordinary blazer.
Pair it with some skinnies, leggings, or dress pants-this coat can literally work for any style. Probably best to wear with heels since it is on the longer side and you want your legs to look elongated.
This is defintely on my wish-list for this winter season!

Trend Thursday

Dress your age, yet still have fun.

I think it's incredibly important to continue being in fashion and dress stylishly till the day you die, but it is important to keep in mind some basic key rules.

1. Dress your age.
Do not borrow clothes from your daughter's closet or shop in the Junior's department if you are 30+ years old.
2. Don't dress conservatively just because you are older.
Just because you are aging does not mean that you can't have fun with fashion and be experimental.
3. Be your own person.
Keep in mind when getting dressed in the morning that you still are the same person even though you may look or feel different than you did 30 years ago. Therefore, use these same rules that you did 30 years ago and if your gut tells you you look like you're trying too hard, then you probably are.

Probably in their 70's but are still rockin' it and looking stylish as ever.

Royal Blues

This Fall/Winter/Spring, try incorporating bright colors into your wardrobe. It can be daunting, but fun when you realize color is actually a great addition to your clothing other than plain old black. Royal blue is my all-time favorite color-not navy, not baby blue but royal.

When I say, incorporate color, it doesn't mean everything you wear has to be bright. Instead, pick an article of clothing or accessory that you wish to be bright and contrast it with subtle tones that won't conflict with the tones and patterns of the fabric.

Like my last Trend Thursday post, I featured bright totes. Accessories are a great option to start off with if you feel hesitant to wear a bright orange skirt for example.

Fall Days

Today was the perfect Fall day.
Sun streaming through my blinds when I woke up this morning, crisp cold air and frost covering the tips of the grass.
Bundled in a scarf, knits and boots, my roommate and I walked to our nearest coffee shop and bought a latté & scone and enjoyed the gorgeous day.

The Colored Tote.
Something as simple as a pop of color can easily make an outfit stand out. Lately, I've been obsessed with colorful totes that don't match with the rest of your outfit but instead work as a perfect contrast. There's nothing edgier than bright popping accessories.
Take a look at a few of these that I found...

Trend Thursday

A solid white or cream blazer is an essential article of clothing that every girl (or guy) should have. It can easily dress up or down an outfit and make it all tie together. For example, if you feel like wearing jeans and a tee, pair your look with a blazer and you will instantly go from casual to urban chic.

Olivia looks stunning in this white blazer. Defintely dresses down the look so it's not too "red carpet" but still gives it an elegant feel.

Trend Thursday

As soon as I found this photo, I realized again what the main importance of fashion is. It is important to have your own sense of style

Often we get side-tracked when looking at magazines of super skinny models doning the latest trends. We need to remember to take bits of their style and then create our own look

So when you get dressed in the morning, remember to keep in mind the latest trends, but don't copy them look by look. Take a key trend like the way they button their collar all the way to the top or wear socks with their heels or stacking their rings and then make it your own. By doing this, you will obtain a great sense of style.

Love the contrast between these blue shoes and the color pallette in the blouse. This length of skirt is so great. We are seeing tons of this 60's look over and over again this season. Loving it!

The movement in the skirt is so femenine. The way the skirt is form-fitting at the top and then loose at the bottom makes for a very gorgeous sillouette. Very simple accessories are needed for this look as the shoes, top and skirt play the role just fine.

Decorative Shoes

As soon as I spotted this pic I was in L.O.V.E.
When a girl has ample amounts of shoes and they no longer can fit in her closet, what's she to do? This creative decorating strategy is brilliant. The shoes instantly become a piece of art. In reality, they pretty much are so why not display them like it?

Wedding Inspiration

image via pattersonmaker

Today I worked at a bridal fashion show hosted here in Victoria. It was a huuuuge event with both male and female models showing off the latest trends of bridal fashion. Everything from JS Collection to Alfred Sung. What caught my eye was the bright RED tux on one of the male models...yeah I guess you could say it wasn't just the color that caught my eye...;)

I was busy in the back dressing all the models and making sure they looked absolutely perfect before stepping out on the runway. A bit stressful and chaotic, but loved every second of it. Got a little inspired after seeing bride after bride and searched the web and came up with a couple designs that I couldn't resist posting.

Tory Burch Spring 2012 Collection

It's the first time ever that the renound Tory Burch is hosting her own fashion show. What an awesome event! Such an array of fabulous pieces that can be easily worn. Sometimes it's hard to picture runway pieces on yourself for a day-to-day look, but Burch keeps that versatile edge in tact which is what I love about her.
You can take a look at the actual show here.

Love the polka dot print for spring-totally chic and a tad 60's esque. Also a huge fan of the super long necklaces and the fact that maxi dresses will still be in come springtime-yippeee!

Trend Thursday

Mixing & matching prints and brights seems to be the ultimate in thing. I often hesitate to put outfits together like that because I think I'm clashing colors and prints and not making the outfit flow.
Seeing this particular editorial makes me re-think my opinion on that matter altogether. I'm loving the contrast of the bold leopard print matched with the soft plaid (in the shirt and umbrella-how cute!). Adding a pop of color in the clutch and shoe really seems to tie the outfit together.

This next photo is a personal fave. Love love love the contrast of neon brights (and the shoes are to die for). This look totally inspires me because I'm usually very shy when it comes to wearing these colors together. The top with white pants? No problem. But paired with these peach pants-that's a whole other story. Fall goal: try pulling off these color schemes & wear them together. Tip: keep the accessories neutral when dealing with neons.

I have always been a fan of boyfriend shorts but have yet to find a pair that I absolutely love. I posted this picture because I think boyfriend shorts are the perfect transition piece into Fall. Pair them with some tights underneath or a legging and boot. Looks super cute and casual and you don't have to spend extra cash on a new look!

Simplicity

I absolutely love how these photos are extremely simple but are so perfectly put together. The cream crop pant is cut at a perfect length and looks gorgeous paired with that orange top. It looks effortlessly chic.
The second picture too is so simple but resembles sophisticated fashion. The long sleeve silk blouse is a definite must have for this Fall/Winter. It can be paired with a dark denim or dressed up with a skirt like in the photo. And the shoes...pure h-o-t-n-e-s-s.

Cottage Living

I'm finally leaving Van city and heading back to the Island for school. Can't believe the summer flew by so fast. Pretty sure I say that every year though.
Before I jet off to Victoria, I am stopping at my cabin on Shawnigan Lake. It's my absolute favorite place to be in the entire world. I'm spending a whole week with my family soaking up the rays, lying on the dock, water-skiing, reading good books, eating bbq dinners, and enjoying every minute of being on vacation. I literally can't wait.

Trend Thursday

There's nothing more trendy than being able to rock a bunch of accessories without overdoing it. We're still seeing lots of layering and bangling up this season and carrying on into Fall. I love the way it can totally take an outfit from mediocre to insanely brilliant in a matter of seconds. The extra pop of color and texture adds just that which makes it super hot.

This particular editorial demonstrates just how to create an accessorized look. My fave look is piling on the rings...who knew?! Also, the different lengths in necklaces are always effortlessly chic.

Time To Get Cozy

On this dreadful rainy Monday in the middle of August, there's nothing else I can think of doing other than crawling up into a ball in a big comfy bed with tons of pillows and soft silky sheets.

These pictures truly capture what I wish I was doing at this particular moment.
I could easily get lost in any of those books and would never run out of supply as I am the worlds slowest reader. I've always loved those old fashioned ladders...saw one at an ancient bookstore in Victoria and fell in love.

Breakfast in bed always is a perfect way to wake up. Haven't had it in awhile and thinking, I might just do that tomorrow morning if the weather doesn't smarten up.

Polka Dot Love

Loving this editorial.

The blouse is timeless (and can be worn with pretty much anything) while the floppy hat adds sophistication and femininity. Also, cannot take my eyes off of those ridiculously gorgeous red booties...the red lipstick ties in nicely.

Absolute Perfection.
