Home Essentials

So I'm planning to move out of my house in a few months and since realizing that, I have become happily overwhelmed with home furnishings & decorating ideas. I have always been a fan of interior design and love looking out for the perfect piece of artwork or simply, a comfy blanket to spruce up my home. Here is a collage of ideas for the new pad...

large chalkbord to make lists :: spacious office area

antique jars filled with sand & beach shells :: cozy knit blankets

a collage of different sized artwork

picnic table for outside entertaining or as a kitchen table :: necklaces displayed on cut glass

classic white linens

silver dishes to hold perfumes and jewelry

Spring/Summer Must Haves

As the weather begins to warm up and the flowers begin to pop, I can't help but get excited for the coming spring & summer months. There's nothing like planning a summer get-away or spending time with friends on an outdoor patio till the wee hours. All of these things and more are things I look forward to. Here's a few things that excite me about the coming months...

spring flowers & fresh strawberries from the farmers market

jean cuttoffs & patterned shorts

fun nail color used as an accessory to brighten up any outfit

entertaining with friends & a staple comfy summer dress

Happy Summer!

Monday Morning At The Office

As usual, this weekend flew by and I was desperately in need of an extra day off. The only thing that got me out of bed this morning was the unusual silence outside instead of the normal pitter-patter of rain that we've been experiencing lately. Despite the sunny weather, it still hasn't warmed up which is why I opted for my usual black outfit.
Here was my inspiration for today's ensemble:

Cool & Collected

Cropped Coat.
Lately I've been dreaming of finding the perfect cropped jacket. They can easily smarten up your look and pull it together in a matter of minutes. I can justify buying one now as a) most are on sale from the winter collection and b) are easy to transition into warmer spring weather.

These are a few essential details in my oh so perfect coat:

1. Zippers up the sleeves
2. Simple yet stunning hardware
3. Able to wear done up or open

Here are a few looks that I've been eyeing...

Office Appropriate Looks

What to Wear Nine to Five.
Sometimes it is difficult to choose what to wear every single day of the work week. Especially when we are transitioning into a new season, this can be a bit daunting. That is why I've outlined a few work ready items for each day of the week that can work right now while the weather is not too chilly yet not  summer weather either.

Monday Morning Meeting:
The Patterned Pant

This is a super trendy look right now that can definitely work for the office--if paired with the right accessories. Because the pants are a bit 'out there', opt for a neutral blazer or a two-toned one like Olivia Palermo above. Make sure the pant is cropped and hits just above your ankle bone.
Super steal can be found here.

Tuesday Meeting With Clients:
Overcoat with Flare

Need to run out of the office to grab coffee or lunch with a client? Well this amazing number is perfect to throw on over your work blouse and into the cold weather. The length of it makes it super edgy and classy at the same time. It can be paired with tailored slacks or a pencil skirt with tights and heels. Because of the neutral colors, pair it with bright accessories like a red bag or plum colored pumps.

Wednesday Presentation to the Boss:
Classic Suit

This classic Banana Republic suit is retro with a twist. I would pair it with a leather burgundy skinny belt with some colored heels. Just because the suit may be classic and innocent, doesn't mean your accessories have to be.

Thursday Business Trip:
Taking the Right Accessories

These accessories are essential when travelling on business trips or to various work related destinations. Flats are important to store in your bag if there's a lot of walking to do (ie running to catch your flight). Also, this trendy wallet crafted by Tiffany&Co is the perfect accessory for storing your essentials.

Casual Friday:
Casual, but not too casual

Allowed to wear jeans on Friday? Great, but make sure they are still work appropriate. Opt for a darker wash and pair them with a boyfriend blazer and a tucked in blouse. A good pair of work jeans are these MiH pair that can be found here.

Fall Picks

This coming Fall season, I am looking forward to updating my wardrobe. There's nothing more exciting than transitioning into the next season, switching the shorts for skinnies or vice versa. Here are a few looks that inspire me to wear once this beautiful summer weather comes to an end.

Fur scarves, layered jackets in similar color hues, oversized knits, tailored skinnies & slouchy boots.

Ankle booties with a small-ish heel so I'm able to walk miles in them.

Large, versatile and structured tote :: Simple & stackable gold jewelry.

Summer Living

image via Paterson Maker

This weekend was spent relaxing at my friend's lake cabin. It was so nice to get away for a couple of days and escape the craziness of the city. Seems nice when all is written on your to-do list is: sleep in, go paddle boarding, eat amazing meals & sun tan all day long. Tis the life.

Here is what I packed in my weekender:

2 bathing suits
Sun hat
Beach towel
Flip flops
Sun dress
Jean shorts
Tank top
Sun tan lotion
Magazine

When in doubt, keep it simple.

Happy Summer!
