Trend Thursday

Dress your age, yet still have fun.

I think it's incredibly important to continue being in fashion and dress stylishly till the day you die, but it is important to keep in mind some basic key rules.

1. Dress your age.
Do not borrow clothes from your daughter's closet or shop in the Junior's department if you are 30+ years old.
2. Don't dress conservatively just because you are older.
Just because you are aging does not mean that you can't have fun with fashion and be experimental.
3. Be your own person.
Keep in mind when getting dressed in the morning that you still are the same person even though you may look or feel different than you did 30 years ago. Therefore, use these same rules that you did 30 years ago and if your gut tells you you look like you're trying too hard, then you probably are.

Probably in their 70's but are still rockin' it and looking stylish as ever.

Trend Thursday

Royal Blues

This Fall/Winter/Spring, try incorporating bright colors into your wardrobe. It can be daunting, but fun when you realize color is actually a great addition to your clothing other than plain old black. Royal blue is my all-time favorite color-not navy, not baby blue but royal.

When I say, incorporate color, it doesn't mean everything you wear has to be bright. Instead, pick an article of clothing or accessory that you wish to be bright and contrast it with subtle tones that won't conflict with the tones and patterns of the fabric.

Like my last Trend Thursday post, I featured bright totes. Accessories are a great option to start off with if you feel hesitant to wear a bright orange skirt for example.

Fall Days

Today was the perfect Fall day.
Sun streaming through my blinds when I woke up this morning, crisp cold air and frost covering the tips of the grass.
Bundled in a scarf, knits and boots, my roommate and I walked to our nearest coffee shop and bought a latté & scone and enjoyed the gorgeous day.

The Colored Tote.
Something as simple as a pop of color can easily make an outfit stand out. Lately, I've been obsessed with colorful totes that don't match with the rest of your outfit but instead work as a perfect contrast. There's nothing edgier than bright popping accessories.
Take a look at a few of these that I found...

Trend Thursday

A solid white or cream blazer is an essential article of clothing that every girl (or guy) should have. It can easily dress up or down an outfit and make it all tie together. For example, if you feel like wearing jeans and a tee, pair your look with a blazer and you will instantly go from casual to urban chic.

Olivia looks stunning in this white blazer. Defintely dresses down the look so it's not too "red carpet" but still gives it an elegant feel.

Trend Thursday

As soon as I found this photo, I realized again what the main importance of fashion is. It is important to have your own sense of style

Often we get side-tracked when looking at magazines of super skinny models doning the latest trends. We need to remember to take bits of their style and then create our own look

So when you get dressed in the morning, remember to keep in mind the latest trends, but don't copy them look by look. Take a key trend like the way they button their collar all the way to the top or wear socks with their heels or stacking their rings and then make it your own. By doing this, you will obtain a great sense of style.

Trend Thursday

Love the contrast between these blue shoes and the color pallette in the blouse. This length of skirt is so great. We are seeing tons of this 60's look over and over again this season. Loving it!

The movement in the skirt is so femenine. The way the skirt is form-fitting at the top and then loose at the bottom makes for a very gorgeous sillouette. Very simple accessories are needed for this look as the shoes, top and skirt play the role just fine.
